About Noctapillow

Why one height is the wrong number

Almost every pillow on the market is built at a single loft. It gets chosen once, in a shop or on a screen, for a sleeping position you happened to have in mind at the time.

But nobody sleeps in one position. You start on your back and end up on your side. A back sleeper needs less height under the head; a side sleeper needs more, because the shoulder creates a wider gap between the mattress and the ear. One number cannot serve both.

What we did about it

Noctapillow has two. The low side measures 3.15 inches. The high side measures 4.52 inches. You change the support by turning the pillow over — not by buying a second one.

The centre dips so the head sits in the pillow rather than on top of it. The raised wings follow the curve of the neck. Grooves along both sides let you tuck an arm underneath without lifting your head off the surface. The fill is slow-rebound memory foam: press it and the shape holds for a moment before returning, which is what keeps the support under your head at 4am instead of flat.

How we work

We are a small operation. We do not run a factory — we choose products on measurements rather than adjectives, and we say what those measurements are so you can judge for yourself.

We would rather tell you who this pillow is wrong for than sell it to the wrong person. It is firm. If you currently sleep on something soft that collapses under your head, the first nights will feel like a change. Stomach sleepers generally want something flatter than either of our sides.
